Foreigner's Thailand publishes practical guides for foreigners visiting, moving to, or living in Thailand. This page explains how we research, review, correct, and monetise content.

Our mission

We explain complicated Thai bureaucracy in plain English — and we show you exactly where the official rules come from. We are independent editors, not a government office, visa agent, or law firm.

How we research

Sensitive guides (visas, immigration, banking, healthcare, taxes) are written against primary sources: Thai Immigration Bureau notices, Ministry of Foreign Affairs embassy guidance, Royal Gazette publications, and official programme sites (BOI LTR, Thailand Privilege). We link sources in articles and hub pages. Secondary blogs and social media are not treated as authoritative.

Review dates

Articles and hub pages carry a reviewed or updated date when we have checked them against official sources. A review date means we verified the piece at that time — not that the law cannot change the next day. Visa articles are prioritised for re-review when policies shift.

Source hierarchy

1. Official Thai government and embassy sources. 2. Programme operators where relevant (Thailand Privilege, BOI LTR). 3. Our own editorial analysis connecting rules to practical steps. When sources conflict, we say so and recommend confirming with the authority that will decide your case.

Corrections

Factual errors are corrected as a priority. Use the contact form with the article URL. We note significant corrections in the article when the change affects reader decisions.

Authors

Guides are written and reviewed by named editors with Thailand residency or specialist subject experience. Author pages list published articles. We do not publish anonymous visa advice.

Partnerships and affiliate disclosure

We may earn commission from partner services clearly labelled on the site (for example airport FastTrack assistance). Partner modules are separated from editorial guides. We do not sell placement in visa requirement lists. Sponsored content, if ever published, will be explicitly labelled.

What we are not

We do not provide legal advice, visa application services, or guaranteed outcomes. Immigration officers and embassies make final decisions. Use our guides to understand options — then verify with the authority that applies to your passport and purpose.
