Overview

Phuket living costs track tourism more than Chiang Mai’s do. Beach-adjacent rentals and vehicle hire are the usual budget shocks. The southwest monsoon (roughly May–October) affects ferries and some west-coast beaches. Immigration is in Phuket Town; many residents still commute there for 90-day reports and extensions. Rawai and Chalong suit long-stayers; Patong is nightlife-heavy and seasonal.
